Clive⁽³⁾ was born in Richmond, VIC on the 27^th of September 1895⁽⁴⁾ to William Andrew McKenzie⁽⁵⁾ and Emma Cox. Clive had a brother, William, who is also remembered in the Avenue.

Clive was a hairdresser and gave his address as Bacchus Marsh, VIC when he enlisted in the AIF, 17^th Reinforcements, 6^th Battalion on the 4^th of March 1916, aged 21. He embarked aboard the HMAT A14 Euripides in April, disembarking in Egypt. Clive left Egypt in late May aboard the HMT Britton, disembarking at Plymouth, England in early June.

In September 1916 Clive transferred to the 5^th Battalion, joining them in France in October where he was briefly an Acting Corporal. Clive was wounded in action in May 1917, during the Second Battle of Bullecourt and admitted to a Field Ambulance before being transferred to the 11^th Stationary Hospital, Rouen the next day - gunshot wounds to the leg, arm and face (severe). He was then invalided back to England and admitted to the Military Hospital, Devonport. Three months later he transferred to the 3^rd Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford before being discharged to two weeks furlough in late August. In October Clive embarked for home aboard the Port Lyttleton, returning to Australia in December and was discharged from the AIF in January 1918 - medically unfit, gunshot wounds to the arm, leg and eye.

Clive re-enlisted with the Army Medical Corps, 16^th Australian General Hospital, Macleod, VIC in December 1919 and was again discharged in March 1920.

He is listed on the Shire of Bacchus Marsh Roll of Honour, the Bacchus Marsh & District Roll of Honour, the Roll of Honour of S^t. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Bacchus Marsh and the Holy Trinity Church Roll of Honour.
