William was born at Werribee, VIC in 1884 to Henry Dukelow and Fanny Beamish. He had a cousin, Henry Swanton(4) also remembered in the Avenue.

He was a shearer when he enlisted at Randwick, NSW in the AIF, 2nd Battalion, B Company, on the 27th of August 1914 - just a fortnight after the declaration of war - aged 30. William embarked from Sydney, NSW in October aboard the HMAT A23 Suffolk, disembarking in Egypt in December.

William landed at Gallipoli on the 25th of April 1915 and on the 12th of May 1915 he was killed in action. He is remembered in the Lone Pine Memorial.

He is listed on the Shire of Bacchus Marsh Roll of Honour, the Bacchus Marsh & District Roll of Honour, the Werribee RSL Honor Board and the St. Thomas` Church of England Honor Board, Werribee. William is also remembered at the Werribee War Memorial and the Lone Pine Memorial, Turkey.
