William was born in Kilmarnock, Scotland in 1872(2). He married Janet Stewart in 1911 and they had a daughter, Jeanie, born at Essendon, VIC in 1912.

William was grazier at Skipton, VIC - Carranballac Station - when he enlisted at Ballarat, VIC in the AIF, 12th Reinforcements, 6th Battalion on the 16th of August 1915, aged 43. He embarked aboard the HMAT A40 Ceramic in November, disembarking in Egypt some time later.

William embarked from Egypt in early April 1916, disembarking at Marseilles, France a week later. In September he transferred to the 9th Battalion. William was on furlough in the UK in late December when he was admitted to hospital suffering from an old fractured wrist.

He embarked for Australia aboard the HMAT A32 Thermistocles in May 1917, disembarking in Australia in July and was discharged from the AIF in August.

William probably(2) died at Cheltenham, VIC in 1951, aged 79.

William Goudie is remembered in the Skipton Honour Roll and Avenue.
